Welcome to ValleysArt.com the site designed to display the majority of the works of the talented Welsh artist Martyn Evans.
Martyn was born in the Valleys area of South Wales, Aberdare He emigrated to New Zealand
with his Kiwi wife in the 70's returning to Aberdare in the late 90's to care for his aging parents.
Like all talented artists Martyn reframes the normal into the unusual. He was inspired by the beauty of the valley area of his
birth despite the ravages of severe industrialisation. Looked at through the eyes of a New Zealander and heavily influenced by his direct experiences of Maori culture and art, Martyn puts a unique and colourful perspective
to what might be considered as a grim post industrialised Valleys area.
Lowryesque in it's presentation this unique combination of Welsh and Kiwi art brings colour and hope to areas which are suffering high levels of unemployment drug addiction and low self esteem. Winner of a number of local art
prizes Martyn now presents his work to the world through this site. Martyn Evan's work can be purchased as either prints or Cards. For those of you who live in Wales or expats whose formative years were spent in the Welsh
valleys these will provide colourful and inspiring reminders of your youth in a very special place.
